Pontus Jansson has pointed out a big difference to Leeds under Christiansen and Monk.

He said that this season they are struggling against physical teams – something he said they had no problem with last season under former manager Garry Monk.

Jansson was talking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Yorkshire derby on Sunday, and after the disappointing 3-2 defeat to Cardiff in midweek.

“We have two bad losses against Millwall and Cardiff and of course that’s something we have to work on.

“Last year we did well against the physical teams and struggled with teams that played football.

“This year it’s completely different. We have new players that have to adapt to the Championship.

“We will expect a physical game on Sunday too so we will see how they cope with it.

“Some of the players have to take a bigger responsibility- like me. I’m one of the biggest players and I have to step up.”

Thomas Christiansen will be desperate to get a result against Sheffield Wednesday after a disappointing defeat to Cardiff in a table topping clash. Leeds were beaten by the better team and it means that they’ve now lost two in three league games and are off the top of the table. Three defeats in four going into the international break would be tough for Leeds fans after their side’s fast start to the season. Three points on Sunday would change the complexion completely and prove that the Leeds players have character as well as the skills to push on for an automatic promotion place. Christiansen brought in a number of very skilful players over the summer but Jansson is right – they’re struggling with the physical teams and that could become a problem if they don’t sort it out fast.
