Midfielder Jack Grealish has revealed that he will be back in the Aston Villa squad “very soon” after suffering from a kidney problem.

The 22-year-old went down clutching at his side during his side’s last pre-season friendly against Watford back in July, and had to be withdrawn from the game in the first-half.

His boss, Steve Bruce, confirmed after the friendly that he had been taken to hospital, where it was later learned that he had to have surgery on a bleeding kidney.

While the playmaker was expected to be out until next year, his latest update on his personal Twitter account suggests that he will return sooner than expected.

The youngster revealed the encouraging message, which read: “Nice to have some good news, back very soon.”

The England Under-21 midfielder featured for Villa 33 times last season and scored five goals, but has be sidelined for the duration of the current campaign while he recovers.

OPINION

Grealish’s message will be incredibly encouraging to fans after missing his for a number of months. Villa have had a mixed bag of results since the opening of the campaign, but the squad appear to have gained some confidence after their 3-0 win over Barnsley at the weekend. Grealish appears keen to return, but he must ensure that he doesn’t rush his recovery, and instead should listen to his body and return when he has returned to full fitness.
