Leeds have received a huge boost ahead of their Championship game against Millwall on Saturday, with the news that captain Liam Cooper will be fit to play.

Leeds go into the game at the Den as table toppers after a brilliant start to the season, and will be hoping to keep their momentum going with another win in London.

Cooper is carrying a slight injury and he was substituted in the 2-0 win against Birmingham on Tuesday in the 69th minute.

Thomas Christiansen didn’t have a centre-back on the bench and Luke Ayling moved across, with Gaetano Berardi taking his place on the right.

However, Christiansen said, as quoted in the Yorkshire Evening Post, “He’s okay. If we started the [Birmingham] game again now then he could not play but he will be ready for Saturday.”

OPINION

This is great news for Leeds ahead of a game that could cement them as Championship leaders. Millwall are languishing in 19th place in the Championship and are there to be beaten but going to the Den is never easy. However, Leeds are on a charge and there’s real belief and team spirit in the camp. Having their captain for Saturday’s game will give them a lift and provide some stability in central defence.
