Winners and losers from Chelsea v Burnley

OPINION

Chelsea suffered a shock 3-2 defeat to Burnley in their first game of the Premier League season and some players came out of the game better than others.

The reigning champions suffered a nightmare home loss and finished the match with just nine men, with both Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas receiving red cards.

Sam Vokes (two) and Stephen Ward goals gave Burnley a commanding lead at half-time, while Alvaro Morata and David Luiz managed to restore some pride in the second period.

The Blues were without injured stars Eden Hazard, Victor Moses and Pedro for clash, while Diego Costa was also absent as his Stamford Bridge departure seems inevitable.

They will now turn their attention to their next league game away to Tottenham and will be looking to bounce back immediately.

This Is Futbol examines the five winners and losers from Chelsea’s opening day, including a 23-year-old that should now be axed from the starting line-up.
