How Rudiger could fit into Chelsea XI

Chelsea splashed out £34million on defender Antonio Rudiger this summer, but it’s unclear where he is going to fit into the club’s starting line-up.

The 24-year-old completed his move to Stamford Bridge this summer from Italian giants Roma and is going to face tough competition to land a role in the starting XI.

He is a centre-back by trade and is also capable of playing at right-back if needed.

Rudiger is a Germany international and has arrived at the Blues following the departure of club legend John Terry, plus a loan move to Stoke for Kurt Zouma.

The centre-back made 35 appearances across all competitions last season for Serie A side Roma and is renowned for being a no-nonsense defender, while also possessing a brilliant range of passing.

This Is Futbol has examined three ways that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte could look to deploy Rudiger in his team.

Here are those three possibilities, including one that will see this shock name axed from the starting line-up.
