Josh Onomah made his first start for Aston Villa on Wednesday night against Colchester – and the club’s supporters were thrilled with his performance on Twitter.
The 20-year-old moved to the Midlands giants this summer on a season-long loan from Spurs and has seemingly already won over fans.
He made his Villa debut at the weekend off the bench during the club’s 1-1 draw with Hull, but manager Steve Bruce decided to reshuffle his side for the League Cup match against Colchester.
Onomah completed 90 minutes in the away match as the Championship side edged past the League Two outfit 2-1.
Scott Hogan put Villa ahead in just the seventh minute, before Colchester defender Frankie Kent scored once in each net.
Villa fans highlighted the display of central midfielder Onomah in the match and one even compared him to their former player Fabian Delph, who was a technically gifted player before his switch to Manchester City.

Onomah with the best full debut from an #avfc midfielder in a very long time. Like to see him moved up '10' role & unlock defences more .

Onomah dropped down to the Championship from Spurs to pursue more first-team experience and his efforts against Colchester mean he is set to become a regular in Bruce’s squad.
The box-to-box midfielder helped England’s Under-20s win the World Cup this summer and he is a highly-rated talent at Spurs.
However, Villa will be able to exploit the midfielder’s talents in the new season and his excellent range of passing is already beginning to show.
The Midlands club now turn their attention to Cardiff away this weekend in their next league fixture and Onomah will be hoping to secure a starting position.
