Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback – and the club’s supporters are strongly against the idea on Twitter.
The Chronicle claim that the Premier League side are willing to listen to offers for the 27-year-old and that Villa are keen on his signature.
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez is undergoing a clear out at St James’ Park following the club’s promotion to the Premier League and Colback is one of the stars that could leave.
Steve Bruce’s side have endured a poor start to the Championship season and are still looking at new signings before the end of the transfer window.
The Midlands giants have just one point from their opening three league games and will need a big turnaround to launch a promotion bid.
Villa fans have shown their disapproval on social media about a move for Colback and one even claimed he would be a “pointless signing”.

Colback would be a pointless signing, we already have to many midfielders #avfc

Colback may have helped Newcastle achieve promotion from the Championship last season, but the Villa fans are adamant they don’t want him at their club.
The defensive midfielder is renowned for his incredible work-rate in the centre of the park and he has played 102 times for the North East club.
However, Newcastle fans have always been critical about the Englishman’s lack of end product and that is something that is clearly shared with Villa supporters.
