OPINION

Everton have reportedly agreed a deal with Croatian side Hajduk Split for attacker Nikola Vlasic.

The Guardian claim that the 19-year-old is set to move to Goodison Park as a fee including add-ons has been agreed between the Toffees and recent Europa League opponents Hajduk Split.

It is understood that the Merseyside club are on the verge of completing the £9.26m deal as the manager continues to strengthen his frontline.

Everton fans got a good look at Vlasic when they edged past his side in a Europa League two-legged qualifier and may have been impressed by the technical ability of the playmaker.

Good move for Everton?

Everton look close to landing versatile attacker Vlasic and the club are not afraid to invest in youth products.

The Croatia Under-21 international can play on either wing or in the number 10 role, which helps him be a big goal threat and could help justify his £9.26m price tag.

He has already racked up 119 senior appearances for Hajduk Split at his age, scoring 12 goals and supplying 20 assists in return.

Vlasic appears to have the trickery and pace that could help him adjust to the Premier League quickly, but it would be a big step up for him at this time in his career.

Everton supporters may also be frustrated that they are close to signing another attacker and feel that the club must be targeting a central striker that can lead the line effectively.

Likely to happen?

This deal appears to be very close to completion and the report suggests that it will be the next signing made in the transfer window, despite still chasing a striker and a left-sided defender too.

It is unclear how much game time Vlasic will get in Everton’s first team, but must be highly rated by the club and is very experienced for a 19-year-old.

He impressed Toffees officials during the recent European clash with Hajduk Split and is set to be snapped up by the Premier League club.

Koeman has already found out how stretched his squad will be during the course of the season and adding another attacking option in Vlasic looks set to happen imminently.
