Rangers will make an eleventh hour bid for Hearts attacker Jamie Walker on deadline day, according to a reliable journalist.

Sky Sports news presenter and journalist Jim White has claimed via his personal Twitter account on Thursday morning that he’s been told the Gers will make a renewed bid for the 24-year-old right-winger.

Rangers have been heavily linked to Walker throughout the summer with the Scotsman’s contract set to expire next year.

It is claimed that he is unwilling to renew his current deal at Tynecastle, but he has appeared in five of Hearts’ opening eight matches of the 2017-18 campaign.

Here, This Is Futbol weighs up whether a renewed Walker bid would be a good move for Rangers and if it is likely to happen.

Good move for Rangers?

Yes. Walker is proven in the top-flight of Scottish football and last season his stats speak for themselves with a fine return of 15 goals and seven assists in 43 outings in all competitions. Rangers have been busy this summer adding players from around Europe, but arguably Ryan Jack and Graham Dorrans, who are both have experience of playing in Scotland have been their best signing’s. The only downside on Walker is his potential cost for a player in the final year of his contract. However, his performances out on the pitch may just repay the seven-figure fee.

Likely to happen?

As mentioned Walker has been linked to Rangers throughout the summer and it just seems to be a case on whether the Glasgow giants can negotiate a fee with Hearts. The Edinburgh based club have proven stubborn in negotiations so far. However, on deadline day they may just crack with it being potentially the final day where they can command a high fee for their youth graduate.
