OPINION

Everton are reportedly considering a move for Cardiff City ace Kenneth Zohore as Ronald Koeman looks to add a striker to his squad before the end of the summer window.

The Daily Mail claimed in their transfer news column that Everton have scoured the Championship for possible recruitment in the final third and 23-year-old Zohore is one striker that has been mentioned.

However, it is said that the Toffees could hold off from splashing out once again this summer and may instead look to sign a striker on loan with less than a week until the transfer deadline.

Zohore has been the subject of intense speculation this summer, after starring for Neil Warnock’s Bluebirds during the 2016-17 campaign.

The 20-time Denmark Under-20 international had a hand in 17 goals during his 30 league and cup outings, scoring 12 times himself and turning provider on a further five occasions.

This Is Futbol considers whether a move to sign the former Brondby and Copenhagen ace is a good one for Koeman’s side, and if a deal can be struck before the end of the window.

Good move for Everton?

Everton do need to sign a striker before the end of the transfer window, with Romelu Lukaku joining Manchester United and the future of Oumar Niasse likely to be somewhere else than Goodison Park.

It leaves just Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez as options up front, but the latter is currently struggling with a heel injury and that has highlighted Everton’s lack of options up front.

Rooney has begun the 2017-18 season in fine form, scoring two goals in his first two Premier League outings but he is more effective from deep.

Zohore boasts all the attributes that Lukaku has shown in the top flight of English football. The striker’s physical frame allows him to hold the ball and threaten in the air, as well as offering pace and trickery on the ball himself.

Luring a striker such as Zohore, who is a proven Championship goalscorer and has plenty more years left in the tank, would be a good move for the Toffees as a back-up replacement for Lukaku.

Likely to happen?

A couple of stumbling blocks would stand in the way of Koeman should he look to lure Zohore to Goodison Park.

With less than a week to go in the window, it will be very difficult to get a deal over the line before the deadline strikes with clubs working hard to add the finishing touches to their squads.

The Hull Daily Mail claim that Leonid Slutsky’s Hull have had three bids rejected for Zohore, with the latter being a £10million offer and it seems that Cardiff are desperate to keep hold of their star striker.

But the lure of Premier League and Europa League football for Zohore could see his head turn, and that could help force through a move to Merseyside.
