West Ham fell to a heavy 4-0 away defeat against Manchester United on Sunday in their opening game of the Premier League.

A new-look Hammers team, which contained four of their summer signings, were blown away at Old Trafford and ended the opening round of league fixtures bottom of the table.

Slaven Bilic’s side were unable to contain a United side that have also been busy in the summer window and new arrival Romelu Lukaku scored the opening two games of the games.

Anthony Martial and Henrik Mkhitaryan then completed the scoring for the hosts as they got their title bid off to a dream start.

Meanwhile, West Ham will have been disappointed with their first outing and will be looking for an immediate response away to Southampton next Saturday.

Here, This Is Futbol analyses three things learned about West Ham from their opening day defeat, including why their 23-year-old should be dropped.
