Rangers are set to make an improved bid for Hearts winger Jamie Walker, according to Sky Sports.

In a report on their Transfer Centre blog (3.10pm), they claim that Sky sources have said another bid is “likely”

The new Hearts manager Craig Levein said today that he hasn’t received another offer for the 24-year-old winger yet.

Walker is said to want a move to Ibrox and is out of contract next summer.

He has refused to sign a new contract keeping him at Hearts and in a report in the Scottish Sun it was said his club are willing to let him leave for nothing next summer if their £1million valuation isn’t met.

Rangers had a bid for Walker turned down earlier in the summer but Walker did play in Rangers’ last two games after missing out at the start of the season due to the transfer speculation.

Good move for Rangers?

It would be a really good move for Rangers and if they want to get him they can – a bid of £1million will get the job done. Rangers have had a decent start to the season but adding more firepower before the window slams shut would help keep the momentum going. 12 goals in 34 league appearances for Hearts last season is an asset Pedro Caixinha could really do with in his locker.

Likely to happen?

Time is running out before the summer window slams shut. Walker was dropped from the first two games of the season because of the Rangers speculation but has since played the last two matches. He wants to go to Ibrox and Rangers want him. Hearts are happy to keep him even if it means losing him on a free next summer. With another bid likely though, maybe some compromise can be reached, which would see Walker land his dream move.
