Jamie Redknapp is confident his former side Tottenham will earn all three points against last season’s Premier League title rivals Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

The two sides meet at the Wembley Stadium as Spurs relocate to the home of English football for the 2017-18 season, with Tottenham looking to compound Chelsea’s misery after they suffered defeat to Burnley last weekend.

Ex-Spurs midfielder Redknapp told Sky Sports that he believes Mauricio Pochettino’s side to earn all three points against Antonio Conte’s side, before claiming Spurs can win the Premier League title this season.

“I fancy Spurs and I’ll be surprised if they don’t win this game,” he said. “They beat Chelsea last year with two Dele Alli headers and I look at the midfield area and wonder how Chelsea can compete.

“With their XI they should not fear anybody, whether it’s at Wembley or not. There’s a vulnerability about Chelsea and Arsenal, and Spurs should be thinking, ‘We can win the league this year’.”

Spurs come into the game after beating Newcastle 2-0 at St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon, thanks to goals from Dele Alli and Ben Davies, and will be confident of earning three points.

However, it remains to be seen what effect playing at Wembley will have on Spurs’ performances, with their Champions League campaign suffering last season inside the 90,000-seater stadium.

Pochettino is sweating on a late fitness test for Kieran Trippier who is recovering from an ankle injury, while Erik Lamela, Danny Rose and Georges N’Koudou continue to miss out through injury.

OPINION

It’s a clash of the two world-class strikers at Wembley on Sunday afternoon, with Harry Kane leading the line for Spurs and Alvaro Morata for Chelsea. However, this game will probably be won for Spurs from midfield – and we agree with Redknapp that Tottenham will come out with all three points. The likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen should prove way too much for Chelsea’s shaky defence, especially in the absence of Gary Cahill who was sent off against Burnley. However, in terms of the Premier League title, Spurs will face tougher rivals in Manchester United and Manchester City, with their northern rivals starting the Premier League season in fine fashion. Mourinho and Man United are looking especially ominous at the moment, after two 4-0 victories see them top the early table.
