Alberto Moreno was surprisingly named in the Liverpool team for their Premier League opener against Watford on Saturday – and fans delivered mixed verdicts of his display on Twitter.
Liverpool twice came from behind to draw 3-3 at Vicarage Road in an entertaining clash notable for poor defending from both sides.
The Merseysiders conceded two goals from set pieces as their achilles heel of last season plagued them in the new campaign, although goals from Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah demonstrated the team’s threat on the other side of the pitch.
Moreno, who was given the nod to start at left-back ahead of 2016-17 mainstay James Milner and new signing Andrew Robertson, was not especially at fault for the first and third goals although he did get too tight to his marker for the second Watford strike.
Liverpool supporters took to social media to run the rule afterwards of the performance of the Spaniard.

The main problem with Lovren, Moreno, Henderson and Can is they all have no tactical sense. #LFC

Moreno wasnt that bad but the combination of Mignolet & Lovren isnt the greatest. Not sure if signing VVD will change things a lot too. #LFC

Jurgen Klopp’s decision to start Moreno came after Milner had struggled with injury in pre-season and was not deemed fit enough to begin the match, although the former England international did come on as a late substitute.
Robertson did not make the matchday 18 despite signing for £10million from Hull this summer.
