Thomas Christiansen is running out of time to find a replacement for Chris Wood at Leeds and should quickly table an offer for Wolves speed machine Nouha Dicko.
The Mirror claimed in their transfer news blog (Friday, 10.32am) that Hull City have had a £3million offer rejected for the 25-year-old striker, who has started the 2017-18 season in fine form.
It is said that Wolves are desperate to keep the striker as they only have two number nine options available to them, after Dicko has found the back of the net twice already despite failing to start a single Championship match.
The Gazette claimed earlier this week that Leeds had a bid of £6million rejected for Middlesbrough striker Rudy Gestede, with Garry Monk’s side desperate to keep the former Blackburn and Aston Villa ace.
That should see Leeds turn their attentions elsewhere and Dicko could be the next man on their shortlist, with Hull’s rejected bid of £3million giving the Whites the opportunity to steal in.
Although not hugely renowned for his goal threat, Dicko has struck 35 goals in 107 appearances for Wolves as well as notching up 16 assists which includes playing from out wide, too.
The striker is more than adept at finding the back of the net in the Championship, scoring 28 career goals despite starting only 60 of his 112 outings in England’s second tier.
Offering an abundance of pace and power, the two-time Mali international has a proven eye for goal and can offer cover in the number 10 role as well as showing quality out wide.
Although he offers less aerial prowess when compared to Wood, his pace and ability on the ball could make him a better option than the New Zealand international with Christiansen desperate to see his side keep the ball on the deck.
Wolves are in a strong position regarding the former Wigan and Rotherham striker’s future, with three years remaining on his contract. But if Leeds can strike a deal worth around £5million, they will add a striker more than capable of firing them towards Premier League promotion.
