Leeds midfielder Vurnon Anita took questions at the official press conference ahead of the club’s Championship game with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

And the 28-year-old hinted that new striker signing Jay-Roy Grot might make an appearance against Forest in the Championship on Saturday.

Grot signed from Dutch side NEC Nejmegen this week on a four-year deal, after last season’s leading scorer Chris Wood left to join premier League club Burnley.

Anita was asked about Grot and whether he’d play on Saturday.

“He is a young guy with a massive body,” he said with a laugh.

“Maybe he will get some minutes [at Forest] and show what he has got.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game and we want to get something out of it.”

The game is away at the City Ground and kicks off at 5.30pm. Leeds are still unbeaten this season.

Opinion

Leeds fans would love to see what their new striker is made of as soon as possible and will be hoping he at least makes the bench on Saturday. The striker looks powerful and he’s already made waves in the Dutch league. It’s rumoured that Leeds spent £1.5million on the player and Christiansen is said to be looking for more striker options, so he might not be the direct Wood replacement. But they have him on a four-year deal and he’s definitely one for the future. And you never know – he might well come straight in and start firing goals in. Samu Saiz is another player who joined Leeds this summer and has he slotted straight into the demanding pace of Championship football. If Grot can do the same then Christiansen and the Leeds fans will be set for an interesting season.
