OPINION

Leeds midfielder Liam Bridcutt is having a medical ahead of his move to Championship rivals Nottingham Forest, according to Football Insider sources.

The football website claims that Nottingham Forest were given permission to talk to the player ahead of the move, which he subsequently agreed.

If all goes well with the medical, the player could ironically be set to make his debut for his new side against Leeds on Saturday.

Phil Hay, a journalist with the Yorkshire Evening Post, announced that titbit on his Twitter account on Monday morning.

Here, This Is Futbol looks at the impending deal and whether it makes sense for Leeds.

Good move for Leeds?

There may be some Leeds fans sorry to see him go after his efforts last season, and his leadership on the pitch. Bridcutt was Leeds’ captain last season and put in a solid effort on the pitch. However, manager Thomas Christiansen has brought a new dynamic to Elland Road this season and the team is playing more exciting football. Bridcutt was never the most direct player and it seems that he is set to be a casualty of the new regime. With the way that Leeds are playing at the moment, most fans will be happy to trust in Christiansen. And anyway, with Chris Wood about to leave, there are bigger players to mourn at the moment.

Likely to happen?

This story has picked up pace over the weekend, after Bridcutt was reported to have agreed to the move. The latest news is that he’s currently having a medical and Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton was talking about an imminent new arrival. Unless something goes drastically wrong with the medical, this one is set to be a done deal in the next two days, and possibly as early as tonight.
