Leeds are trying to make a late move for hugely talented youngster George Hirst from Sheffield Wednesday, according to the Mirror.

They’re trying to complete a late move for the 18-year-old but face stiff competition from Premier League side Leicester.

The Mirror claim that Leicester have already made a £2million bid for the England Under-20 player.

It is said that Sheffield Wednesday have a dillema and are unsure whether to cash in or not on the player.

The striker has been offered a new contract but is concerned about being down the pecking order at Sheffield Wednesday.

Wednesday’s options are to cash in now or risk losing him for a small compensation fee next summer.

It is reported that Leicester have already had a £1million bid rejected but have returned with a ‘double the money’ offer.

Good move for Leeds?

Without a doubt. Hirst is one for the future but he’s already done enough to persuade Leicester to offer £2million for him. Leicester are hoping they can swoop in late before other clubs are alerted but Leeds are also keen. If they’re willing to pay that much for an 18-year-old, it shows that the club is ready to invest heavily in a future in the Premier League.

Likely to happen?

There’s not long left in the transfer window and a move would have to be pretty dramatic to get through. Plus, Hirst must be having his head turned at the prospect of playing for a team that won the Premier League two seasons ago. However, if they’re willing to pay and can convince Hirst that he would play a key part in Thomas Christiansen’s plans for the future, they might stand a chance. 50/50 then and it probably depends on what Leicester are saying and whether Sheffield Wednesday want to cash in on their player now. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
