Chelsea should consider making a move to sign Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes this summer.

Spanish outlet Barca claim that the La Liga giants are considering selling the 24-year-old as they have not received any bids for Arda Turan.

It is understood that the Barcelona board would be willing to accept a suitable offer for Gomes after failing to impress during his first season at the Camp Nou.

Chelsea should pounce on the uncertain future of the Portugal international as he is exactly what Antonio Conte’s side need to add to their squad.

The Blues have strengthened well so far in the summer, but look set to be a central midfielder short going into the new campaign as Manchester United close in on a deal for Nemanja Matic.

N’Golo Kante, Cesc Fabregas, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Lewis Baker would be the only options, which could leave the Londoners considerably light on players in the new campaign.

Barcelona ace Gomes would be a fantastic addition at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea should prepare a move.

The central midfielder has brilliant technical ability and tactical awareness, something that earned him a move to the Spanish heavyweights last summer.

He did manage to play 47 times last season across all competitions, but rarely completed 90 minutes due to very stiff competition in the centre of the park.

Gomes made a name for himself during spells with Benfica and Valencia, but was unable to set the world alight during his first year with Barcelona.

Chelsea would be picking up a player with an incredible passing range, football brain and quality if he signed, but it’s likely they would face serious competition if Gomes became available for transfer.
