Jon Dadi Bodvarsson is close to securing a transfer away from Wolves, according to the Express and Star.

The regional newspaper claims that the 25-year-old is on the verge of completing a permanent switch to Reading for an undisclosed fee after Ipswich originally tried to sound out a loan deal.

It is understood that Wolves were looking to recoup the £1million they spent when signing him from German outfit Kaiserslautern last summer.

The Icelandic target man featured regularly for the Black County outfit last season under the charge of both Walter Zenga and Paul Lambert.

He made 48 appearances across all competitions but ultimately struggled to find the net as he scored just three goals and supplied four assists for the Wanderers.

The Express and Star reports that Bodvarsson doesn’t fit into Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans at Molineux ahead of next season, but only leaves Nouha Dicko, Joe Mason and Bright Enobakhare as the club’s only traditional strikers.

HITC has previously reported that Nottingham Forest and QPR are eyeing up Mason to bolster their attacking options, meaning that Nuno could be forced to land another striker before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Wolves haven’t been scared to bring new faces to Molineux this summer, with Ruben Neves’ surprise £15.8million switch from Porto becoming a new Championship record.
