Swansea vice chairman hints at Sigurdsson move

Swansea vice chairman Leigh Dineen has hinted that star Gylfi Sigurdsson is on his way out of the club amid reports that Everton have reached an agreement for his signature.

The Mirror reported on Sunday that the Toffees had agreed a deal worth £30million for the 27-year-old attacking midfielder with the club now preparing to offer a £135,000-a-week contract.

The report has since been followed by a Tweet from Swans chief Dineen, who posted on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that the club will continue to build teams that can compete, while also selling and buying.

With no mention of Sigurdsson in the Tweet, he then proceeded to retweet a fan named Damian Lloyd, who was defending Dineen and asking supporters not to blame him as the Iceland star “wants out.”

In the modern age of transfers, this would appear to be a clear hint that Sigurdsson is on the move and with Everton the most heavily linked he could be lining up at Goodison Park next summer.

The attacker has starred for Swansea since returning from Tottenham in the summer of 2014 and last season alone he returned nine goals and 13 assists in 38 league matches.

He will now be hoping to have a similar return in the next campaign and if he does join Everton then he will add to a very exciting summer for the club.
