Zlatan Ibrahimovic is among four players who have left Manchester United, the club have confirmed.

The Premier League giants announced on their official website on Saturday that Swedish great Ibrahimovic has left after his contract expired at the end of last month.

He is joined through the exit door by midfielder Josh Harrop, who has secured a permanent transfer to Championship club Preston that was announced last week.

Academy youngsters Kayne Diedrick-Roberts and Faustin Makela are also free to find new clubs.

Hours before his United deal expired, Ibrahimovic bid farewell to his United followers on Instagram with a six-word message that summed up his memorable single season at Old Trafford.

The 35-year-old, who scored 28 goals in 46 matches before suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury, wrote on his personal account, “I came. I said. I conquered.”

The striker accompanied the caption with a picture of him celebrating his FA Cup winner at Blackburn in February and it was subsequently liked by Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard.

The club has already removed Ibrahimovic and Harrop’s profiles from the first-team section on the official website, leaving the number nine shirt vacant ahead of the new campaign.

United have been strongly linked with signing a marquee striker this summer, and reports have claimed that Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata has packed his bags ready to jet in to Manchester and complete a move that would cost upwards of £60million.

Diedrick-Roberts, 18, joined United from Fulham in 2015 and scored in the Under-18s’ win at Middlesbrough early in 2016-17 but was outshone by United’s other youngsters.

The Lewisham-born forward, who lined up alongside Marcus Rashford in the academy attack last season, headed to Bournemouth on a youth loan for more minutes in December and returned to make his only United Reserves start in the draw with Leicester in April.

Makela, 17, was hampered by growth-related injuries which restricted him to just one academy start in successive seasons before his final campaign with the club.

Congo-born midfielder Makela made his Under-23 debut at Leicester in April but had already embarked on a youth loan with League One Bury due to a lack of playing time.
