Newcastle are eyeing Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan who is said to be keen on a move to England this summer, according to the Chronicle.

The north east news outlet have detailed on their website that the Magpies are interested in bringing in the 24-year-old, who is reported to be available at just £5million from the Ligue 1 outfit.

English Championship side Fulham are claimed to have lodged a bid for the 25-time capped Uruguay international.

However, the Chronicle states that sources in France have told that Rolan would prefer a move to England’s top-flight.

The striker has been a part of the Bordeaux side for four years after transferring form Uruguayan outfit Defensor Sporting in the summer of 2013.

He has since bagged 38 goals in 149 appearances for the French team and last season he managed a return of 10 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions.

But, he has now entered the final year of his contract and with the World Cup coming up next summer he may be seeking a more high profile club to play for.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are said to be looking to add more firepower to their team with Jacob Murphy closing in on a move from Norwich and Rolan could follow him through the St. James’ Park doors.
