Liverpool forward Sheyi Ojo is set to hold talks about a sensational permanent transfer to Newcastle United, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim that Magpies manager Rafael Benitez has tabled a “dramatic” £10million offer for the 20-year-old as he looks to make him his third summer signing.

The Sun report that Benitez has already been in contact with Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp about the bid for Ojo after being thwarted in a previous attempt to sign him on loan.

It is said that Ojo has been omitted from the Merseyside giants’ trip to Asia to allow him to discuss what would be a sensational move.

Newcastle are hoping to beat Middlesbrough to the signing of the wide man, who is a England Under-20 international and has already made 13 senior appearances for Liverpool.

Intriguingly, the Sun report that Klopp is likely to sanction the permanent exit of Ojo as the fee is enough to tempt him to cash in on a player who is unlikely to be given much first-team football in the upcoming season.

Benitez is a big admirer of the winger and has set his sights on him as he aims to add to the signings of Christian Atsu and Florian Lejeune.

Ojo, who has had loan spells at Wolves and Wigan, only made two FA Cup appearances for Liverpool last season as he spent most of his season on the sidelines.

Middlesbrough were in pole position to sign the rising star, but Newcastle’s £10million bid could now totally change the picture.
