Young dazzling forward Jacob Murphy has agreed personal terms with Newcastle ahead of a Tuesday medical, according to David Coverdale.

The north east Sun reporter has claimed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon that the 22-year-old right-winger would undergo a medical at 1.30pm after agreeing personal terms to join the Magpies.

The claim from Coverdale follows Daily Telegraph reporter John Pery reporting on Monday that the north east giants had agreed a deal worth £12.5million with Norwich for the former England Under-21 international.

Newcastle have been heavily linked with the Wembley-born attacker since his starring displays for the England Under-21s earlier in the summer.

He also impressed in the Championship with Norwich last season, bringing a return of nine goals and eight assists in 40 matches in all competitions.

Newcastle have so far only been able to bring in Christian Atsu on a permanent deal from Chelsea and Florian Lejeune from Eibar this summer.

The lack of activity has reportedly left manager Rafa Benitez disgruntled, but the Spaniard will be delighted to secure one of England’s bright talents.

Murphy will also offer another wide option to the team with the club currently short on the wings following the departure of Yoan Gouffran this summer.
