Everton are ready to push forward in their move to sign Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this summer with Romelu Lukaku leaving for Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.

The news outlet has detailed that the Toffees are “ready to open the bidding” for the 30-year-old Frenchman with Lukaku set to finalise a potential £90million move to Old Trafford.

Giroud is also interesting Marseille, Lyon and West Ham, but the Mail report states that Everton are hopeful they can strike a deal with Arsenal and convince the forward to help the club with their progression.

The experienced forward has himself expressed a desire to earn a place in the Arsenal team, but following the addition of former Lyon goal machine Alexandre Lacazette, Giroud may now seek more first team opportunities, especially in a World Cup year.

The 64-time capped France international has been in England since 2012 after signing from Montpellier in the summer of 2010.

He has since returned 98 goals in 227 matches for Arsenal and he would certainly add some firepower to Ronald Koeman’s team.

The Dutchman has already added Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaasssen, Henry Onyekuru and Sandro Ramirez to his team this summer and despite the loss of Lukaku it is looking an exciting time for Everton as they prepare for a Europa League clash.
