Everton are interested in signing Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke this summer, according to reliable journalist Kaveh Solhekol.

The Sky Sports transfer reporter has claimed on his personal Twitter account on Monday evening that the Toffees are keen on the 26-year-old to replace former star Romelu Lukaku, who left for Manchester United.

Benteke only completed a move to Crystal Palace last summer in a costly £27million transfer from Liverpool and the deal could rise to £32million via add-ons.

He impressed many in his first season in south east London with 15 Premier League goals from 36 league appearances and he showed that the Reds may have been wrong to discard him after just one-year following his £32million move from Aston Villa in the summer of 2015.

It is likely that it will take another figure upwards of £30million to prise him away from Crystal Palace, but Everton have so far shown this summer that they are ready to pay what it takes to get their targets in early.

The club will now be looking for a proven Premier League goalscorer to replace Lukaku and while they have been heavily linked with Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud, they could now go for another Belgium international with the powerful Benteke.
