Everton installed favourites to sign Walcott

Everton have been named as the favourites to sign Arsenal forward Theo Walcott, according to the latest betting odds.

Sky Bet have priced the Merseysiders at 4/1 to sign the 28-year-old right-winger before the September transfer deadline.

Premier League rivals West Ham are the only other side considered to be in the running for the 47-time capped England international and they trail by some distance at 10/1.

The odds follow claims by the Mirror earlier in the month stating that the the Toffees were weighing up a £30million bid for Walcott.

The English attacker is often in and out of the Arsenal team, playing 37 times in all competitions last season, returning 19 goals.

He may now be seeking more regular first team football and next summer’s World Cup could be one of his last for the Three Lions, which could then inspire some further motivation into the player to seek more regular pitch time elsewhere.

Additionally, with his contract at Arsenal entering it’s final two years his market value will also begin to drop and the Gunners may consider selling him this summer while he’s at his peak.

Meanwhile, Everton have added seven players to their side this summer, but manager Koeman may now be turning his attentions to wide attacking options with youngster Henry Onyekuru the only winger to have joined so far and he has been sent straight back on loan to Anderlecht.
