Everton face battle for Sigurdsson

|

Everton are facing competition for Swansea playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson this summer, according to reliable journalist Dean Jones.

The Bleacher Report writer has claimed on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon that other teams are now asking the Swans about a potential fee.

The claim follows a report from the Liverpool Echo in June stating that the Welsh club had slapped a massive £40million valuation on the 27-year-old star.

The 50-time capped Iceland international has been a huge success at Swansea after rejoining from Tottenham in the summer of 2014 in a swap deal which saw Ben Davies move to north London.

Last season alone he showcased his ability to create and deliver goals for his side and helped keep Paul Clement’s team in the Premier League with nine goals and 13 assists from 38 league appearances.

Overall in England’s top-flight he has returned 42 goals and 34 assists in 182 encounters and manager Ronald Koeman may now be looking at the assist machine after stating that he wanted to add more creativity to his squad ahead of the summer window.

The club have since signed attackers Davy Klaassen, Henry Onyekuru and Sandro Ramirez alongside goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane and Sigurdsson could be the next to join.

However, given Swansea’s stance on their star alongside other clubs interest it may now not be as easy as their prior deals.
