Premier League side Burnley are ready to offer right-back Tendayi Darikwa to Nottingham Forest in exchange for star Britt Assombalonga, according to the Nottingham Post.

The Midlands news outlet have detailed on their website that the 24-year-old striker is being chased by a number of Premier League clubs, including the Clarets and that Forest are hoping to prompt a bidding war.

It is however said that Championship rivals Middlesbrough are fronting the queue at the moment with the recently relegated side willing to spend as much as £14million.

But, Sean Dyche’s side are also said to be ready to up their opening bid of £8million with the inclusion of 25-year-old Darikwa, which could sway a deal.

It is also detailed that Forest “would be more enthusiastic” about selling to a club in England’s top-flight with both Huddersfield and Watford said to be monitoring the situation.

Darikwa himself was born in Nottingham and started his career close by with Chesterfield.

He ended up making the switch to then Championship club Burnley in the summer of 2015 after being named Chesterfield’s Player of the Year and Players Player of the Season.

However, he has struggled with injuries while in Dyche’s team and last season the player with one-year remaining on his deal played just five matches in all competitions.
