Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo was poised to join Wolves in a permanent deal worth £3million, but has turned the Championship club down at the last minute, according to OwnGoalNigeria.

The Nigerian news outlet claims that the 23-year-old was scheduled to have a medical with the Black Country outfit on Monday, but has pulled the plug on a deal after Chelsea accepted a £3million bid.

However in a major development, Omeruo is understood to have made a sudden decision to pursue interest shown in him from two Turkish clubs.

The 33-times Nigeria international has already experienced two loan spells in Turkey after successful stints with top-flight clubs Alanyaspor and Kasimpasa.

Omeruo has never made a single senior appearance for Chelsea and has been one of the victims of the London club’s over-use of the loan market, with four temporary spells away from Stamford Bridge in his five years there.

However now it looks as though Omeruo would rather join a Turkish Super Lig team on a permanent basis than Wolves, who faced a relegation battle in the Championship last season.

This summer has seen Paul Lambert axed and replaced with Nuno Espirito Santo, who has wasted no time in splashing the cash on his squad by making a Championship record purchase of Ruben Neves from Porto in a deal widely reported to be worth £15.8million.
