Manager Rafa Benitez has demanded that Newcastle make an improved bid for dazzling wide forward Jacob Murphy after having a bid rejected by Norwich, according to the Telegraph.
The news outlet states that the Canaries do not want to let go of their 22-year-old right-winger and have already said no to an offer of around £8million from the Magpies.
However, Murphy himself is said to be keen on making the move and Benitez now wants to test the Championship club’s resolve with a larger offer.
Norwich have gone under major cost cutting this summer and have already let as many as 10 players leave in an attempt to bring down the wage bill at the club.
But, Murphy has been tipped for a big future and after an impressive England Under-21s campaign this summer it is clear that the Norfolk-based club want to keep hold of him for as long as possible.
Meanwhile, Benitez is believed to be growing increasingly irritated at Newcastle’s window so far following last season’s Championship winning campaign.
The north east giants have so far only brought in Christian Atsu and Florian Lejeune on permanent deals and it is clear that the ex-Real Madrid boss now wants to bring in Murphy, who has four years remaining on his contract after bagging eight goals and eight assists in 37 Championship matches last summer.
