Defender Kieran Trippier has extended his stay with Premier League side Tottenham, it has been confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.

The 26-year-old attacking full-back has put pen to paper on a brand new five-year deal which will see him stay with the north London club until 2022.

The club announced the news on their official website and on their official Twitter account.

Tottenham supporters will surely be delighted by the news following the departure of Kyle Walker to Premier League rivals Manchester City last week.

Trippier secured a permanent move to White Hart Lane from Burnley at the start of the 2015-16 campaign but he failed to have the desired impact in his debut season with the club.

The full-back only featured in six Premier League matches that season but he did manage to play the full 90 minutes in every single Europa League game for Spurs.

The defender enjoyed a much better campaign last season, making a total of 22 appearances for the club and doubling the amount of Premier League matches played.

Trippier did not manage to find himself on the scoresheet but he did provide a hugely impressive seven assists in all competitions last season at rate of one every three matches, helping Spurs to secure a top three finish for the second season in a row.

Remarkably, Trippier’s 12 league games in 2016-17 yielded five assists, proving his huge effectiveness in the opposition third and as a creative outlet for his team.

The full-back saw his contribution with his club rewarded when he was called up to the England national team in May.
