Three things we have learned from Arsenal’s pre-season tour

|

Giroud proved a point

Olivier Giroud has been linked with an exit from the Emirates over the summer and the most recent reports claim that the Gunners have opened talks with Borussia Dortmund over a move.

Arsene Wenger may want to rethink that move as during the club’s most recent pre-season friendly match against the Western Sydney Wanderers the French international showed that he was worthy of his spot in the first team.

Both Giroud and new signing Alexandre Lacazette were in the starting line-up and the 30-year-old proved to Wenger that he still had an impressive goal-scoring ability after he netted the opening goal for the north London club.

Despite the fact that Giroud spent much of the previous campaign as a substitute, he still managed to scoreĀ 16 goals and provide 7 assists during his 40 appearances across all competitions.

He made only 17 starts last season, but on Saturday he proved to Wenger that he is a valuable asset of the manager’s starting XI.
