Linfield manager David Healy has said that he expects Celtic to ease to victory in the Premiership once again this season.

The Hoops were in imperious form during the last campaign, securing a domestic treble of the league title, the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup as they finished unbeaten against their Scottish rivals.

They finished 30 points clear of second placed Aberdeen and 39 ahead of Old Firm rivals Rangers, having scored 106 goals to end the season with a goal difference of 81.

Despite having ended their last season just two months ago with the Scottish Cup victory over Aberdeen, the Hoops have already got their latest campaign underway, having taken on Northern Irish side Linfield in their Champions League qualifying clash.

Brendan Rodgers’ side were able to avoid any potential embarrassment in the first leg, picking up a convincing 2-0 victory in a match strewn with controversy.

Fresh from having seen his side put up a valiant rearguard effort to limit the Hoops to just two, Linfield manager David Healy believes that Rodgers will lead his side to another Scottish league title thanks to their ruthlessness and quality running through their side.

He told the Daily Record: “This Celtic team are just so clinical with the chances they get.

“They’ve hammered better teams than us last season.

“I have no doubt they’ll run away with the league again. I expect them to be just as rampant.”

Celtic’s league campaign kicks off with a visit to Tynecastle Stadium to take on Heart of Midlothian on August 5, and fans may expect to see new signing Kundai Benyu among the squad after he has impressed his manager in pre-season.
