West Ham secure signing of El Mhassani

West Ham have secured the signing of Ajax youngster Anouar El Mhassani on a free transfer, according to Ajax Showtime.

The Ajax news website claim that the Hammers have signed the Under-16s player on a three year deal after he was told by the Dutch giants that they would not be renewing his contract this summer.

The versatile youngster, who can operate anywhere down the left flank, primarily as a winger, suffered a serious injury last season which curtailed his development, and it appears that Ajax have chosen not to take a risk on allowing him to continue his career in the Dutch capital.

West Ham already have a number of talented stars down the left hand side, with the likes of Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku at left-back, while further up the field Andre Ayew is likely to be Slaven Bilic’s first choice on the left wing.

However El Mhassani’s signing is likely to be one for the future, as the Serbian manager looks to fill his academy with some of the best young talent from across Europe.

He joins full-back Pablo Zabaleta as having signed for the Hammers this summer, with the former Manchester City man also joining on a free transfer after his contract at the Etihad Stadium expired.
