Tottenham to offer huge money for King

Tottenham are offering “huge money” to sign Bournemouth striker Josh King this summer, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claim that Spurs have set their sights on the former Manchester United man as they aim to provide proven Premier League back-up to talisman Harry Kane.

The Telegraph report that Bournemouth are in a unique situation in their history of a Premier League rival willing to pay a vast sum for one of their young players.

It is said that the south coast club do not need to cash in on King, 25, after posting a pre-tax profit of £3.4million in their latest set of financial results following the vast windfalls that come with maintaining top-flight status.

Bournemouth have already signed three senior players this summer in Asmir Begovic and Nathan Ake from Bournemouth and veteran striker Jermain Defoe on a free transfer.

But Spurs are ready to push hard for King even though he has a contract that runs until 2020 and it has been reported that Eddie Howe’s side value their star man in the £30million bracket.

Tottenham have paid that kind of fee only twice in their history, for attacking midfield duo Moussa Sissoko and Erik Lamela, but it is likely to take a comparable fee for them to land King.

The 28-times Norway international has been heavily linked with a move to north London this summer and it is thought that Pochettino is looking for a versatile attacker with both Son Heung-min and Erik Lamela currently injured.

King scored 16 goals in 36 Premier League matches last season as he demonstrated both his calibre and ability to play in various positions across the front line.
