Tottenham have entered the race to sign full-back Dani Alves this summer, according to Globo Esporte.

The Brazilian sports outlet claims that the North London club have submitted a contract proposal to the 34-year-old.

Alves, who is renowned for his forward raids on the right flank and has consistently been a source of goals throughout his career, is currently a free agent following his departure from Italian outfit Juventus this summer.

The report claims that Premier League champions Chelsea have also tabled an offer to the Brazilian but rivals Manchester City are still favourites to land the defender.

It is reported that Alves has still not reached a contractual agreement with the Manchester club which could indicate that a deal is far from finalised.

This follows up from the story in the Telegraph which reported that Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain were planning to hijack Alves’ move to the Etihad Stadium.

Tottenham might need to add another full-back to the squad this summer as there have been reports linking right-back Kyle Walker with a move from North London.

The Independent recently reported that Spurs and City are currently in negotiations over Walker but both parties have yet to agree a fee and the saga is likely to drag throughout the entire summer.

Alves would be a great addition to the Spurs set up as his presence and winning mentality could help the team go all the way and lift the Premier League crown for the first time in their history.

The Brazilian has enjoyed great success throughout his footballing career, winning seven league titles in two different countries and lifting the Champions League on three occasions with Barcelona.

In his club career, he has scored 42 goals and supplied 138 assists, which are excellent statistics for a player who is principally a defender.
