Tottenham have offered Danny Rose a new improved contract in order to stave off interest from the two Manchester clubs, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper reports on their website that Spurs’ Premier League title rivals Manchester United and Manchester City are both keen on snapping up the left-back this summer, but the Londoners are eager to not let him leave the club following what happened with Kyle Walker’s move to the Etihad.

Rose is undoubtedly a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team plans, despite missing half of last season with a serious knee injury which was sustained in January, which looks likely to see him sit out for the start of the upcoming campaign.

The Mirror adds that Man City made a last-ditch bid for the £40million-rated Rose during their discussions with Walker over his £50million move to Pep Guardiola’s side.

If a move was successful, it would have rocketed Spurs’ incoming transfer fees up to £90million.

Rose has not long penned a new deal with Tottenham, after agreeing terms to a five-year contract last September which will keep him at the club until 2021.

However it is said that Spurs are keen to improve his deal to ensure that the mega-rich elite don’t lure him away with the promise of doubling his wages, as with Walker’s move to City.

Rose made 21 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions last season, scoring two goals and supplying four assists before suffered his serious knee injury in late January.
