Tottenham have reportedly had a bid rejected by Real Madrid for midfield dynamo Mateo Kovacic – and Spurs fans on Twitter are understandably annoyed.
Spanish news outlet AS claims the La Liga title holders have snubbed a bid worth £22million for the 23-year-old, who is also attracting attention from a host of Serie A clubs.
Kovacic’s former employers Inter Milan, as well as Napoli and AC Milan, are also credited with interest in the 34-times Croatia international, who Mauricio Pochettino is intent on building his team around.
Tottenham are the least active team in the Premier League this summer, having failed to introduce any new players to north London despite offloading Kyle Walker, Nabil Bentaleb, Federico Fazio and Clinton N’Jie.
Supporters of the Premier League runners-up are beginning to get annoyed by the lack of activity, and this failed transfer for Kovacic appears to have sent some of the fans over the edge – with one fan leading the raging comments by saying that chairman Daniel Levy is “choking” the club.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

Not suprised if only offered 21m…that's an insult. Just got 80m and your still acting stingy as f. Levy, you are choking this club! STOP!

He's valued at £22.25m offer that no more, then move on. Pointless always trying to bargain. Levy would go to Aldi and argue over prices.

Kovacic was an integral part of the Real Madrid squad that lifted the La Liga title, UEFA Super Cup and Champions League last season.
Although he didn’t play in the final against Juventus in Cardiff, he featured regularly in the run up.
He made 39 appearances across all competitions for the Galacticos last term, scoring two goals and supplying three assists.
