Erik Lamela wants to quit Tottenham and AC Milan playmaker Suso could be signed as a replacement, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claim on their transfer centre blog on Friday (1.53pm) that Inter Milan are plotting a bid to sign Lamela, 25, and that the player is keen to return to Italy.

Sky Sports report that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino could bring AC Milan’s Suso back to the Premier League as a direct replacement.

It is said the two stunning deals are on the cards following a year of injury hell for Lamela, who has been sidelined with a hip problem that required surgery since last October.

The Argentina international was a first-team regular until his injury after overcoming a shaky start to life in England to develop into an important member of Pochettino’s squad.

Lamela joined Tottenham from Roma in the summer of 2013 for an initial £26million and has a contract that runs until 2020.

He is one of the few senior Spurs players not to pen a contract extension in the last 12 months, which suggests both parties might be open to a transfer.

It has been reported this summer that Pochettino is a big admirer of Suso, 23, and wants to sign him as part of a revamp to enable the club to be more competitive in the Champions League next season.

Former Liverpool player Suso has kickstarted his career in Italy and is on Spurs’ radar after a fine season for Milan in which he scored seven goals and supplied 11 assists in 34 Serie A matches from his right-flank role.

The former Spain Under-21 international had spent the previous campaign on loan at Genoa following his arrival from Liverpool in January 2015.

Suso made 21 appearances for the Merseyside giants before his exit.
