Newcastle are only interested in securing a loan move for Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo this summer, according to the Chronicle.

The newspaper report on their website that the Magpies have tabled a bid for the 20-year-old which would see him arrive at St James’ Park on a temporary deal.

The Sun had earlier claimed that the club had put forward a £10million bid for the England Under-20 international, but the Chronicle state that sources close to the club have rubbished the report.

They also state that although Newcastle are revisiting their reported previous interest in Ojo, they have not stopped their pursuit of Norwich City’s Jacob Murphy, instead suggesting that Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez wants to see the pair both make the move to Tyneside.

It has been reported that Newcastle already have a £10million bid on the table for Murphy, while their pursuit of Ojo may be as a result of the seemingly imminent departure of Yoan Gouffran, who looks set to join Turkish side Goztepe SK.

The Frenchman’s departure would leave Benitez with just Matt Ritchie, Christian Atsu and Rolando Aarons natural performers on the flank, and it is claimed that the Spanish manager is looking to secure two new recruits out wide to reinforce his options.
