Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is interested in signing Borussia Dortmund defender Marc Bartra this summer, according to AS.

The Spanish newspaper claims that the Portuguese manager has been tracking the 26-year-old for some time and he believes that the defender would be the perfect fit to slot into the defensive line next season.

AS report that a “tempting” offer could soon arrive from United for centre-back Bartra.

United have already brought in one central defender this summer as they completed the signing of Victor Lindelof from Portuguese champions Benfica.

Bartra is not the only Spanish defender to be linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer as Don Balon recently reported that Mourinho is keeping a close eye on Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba.

The Manchester giants boasted the second best defensive in the Premier League last season as they only conceded a total of 29 goals.

Bartra only signed for the Bundesliga outfit at the start of the last season but he suffered from a number of injuries which kept him out of first-team action.

The Spaniard made a total of 31 appearances in all competitions last season, contributing with one goal and four assists.

The defender is renowned for his spell with La Liga giants Barcelona where he enjoyed great success, winning five league titles and two Champions League trophies.

Bartra’s current contract with Dortmund runs out in 2020.
