Neville delivers verdict on Lukaku

Gary Neville has stated that he has never been the “biggest fan” of Everton star Romelu Lukaku as he reportedly closes in on a transfer to Manchester United.

The latest on the 24-year-old, as reported by the Sky Sports transfer centre blog (Saturday 1.23pm) is that he is set to have a medical in Los Angeles ahead of a move to United as his transfer saga looks to come to an end.

It is believed to be a huge sum of money that the Red Devils are paying for the powerful Belgian, who scored 25 goals in 37 Premier League matches last season, but many still doubt whether he’s good enough for the elite level.

One of those is United legend and Sky Sports pundit Neville, who posted on his personal Twitter account that while he felt that Lukaku was a very talented player, he’s also not one of his greatest supporters.

Lukaku has been playing in England since making the move from Anderlecht to Chelsea in a £17million move in the summer of 2011.

He struggled to make the step up to the Blues team and with game time hard to come by he was sent out on loan to both West Brom and Everton before signing permanently for a club record £28million fee in the summer of 2014.

The powerful front man has since scored 87 goals in 166 encounters for the Toffees and he will be looking to prove many wrong when playing at the top level next season.
