The 19-year-old was pitted against tricky left-sided midfielder Joao Plata, and he looked comfortable throughout and the Real attacker rarely threatened the United goal.
Antonio Valencia cemented his position as the Red Devils’ number one right-back last term, but the Dutchman could well challenge him in the 2017-18 campaign and this performance will have only further enhanced his reputation.
