Manchester City in talks with Basaksehir over Cengiz Under

Instanbul Basaksehir have confirmed they are in talks with Manchester City over the transfer of Turkish sensation Cengiz Under but an agreement is yet to be made.

The Turkish club revealed on their official website that they have begun negotiations with the Premier League giants over the 19-year-old left-sided midfielder.

Instanbul stated that the club officials and board members had a four hour meeting with Pep Guardiola’s side about the potential transfer of the Turkey international.

On the official Instanbul Basaksehir website, the club released a statement claiming: “There was a meeting between our club board members and the officials of Manchester City for four hours about the transfer of our young player Cengiz Under. An agreement has not been reached yet after the negotiations.”

Under joined the Super Lig outfit from Altinordu in a five-year-deal, for a fee of £595,000, and made an impressive contribution to his club’s 2016/17 campaign.

In his debut season with Instanbul the 19-year-old made a total of 43 appearances, where he netted nine goals and provided seven assists, which did not go unnoticed from City’s Pep Guardiola.

His contribution helped the club finish second in the Super Lig, and reach the Turkish Cup Final.

Under’s impressive display in the league meant that the starlet was called up for his debut international duty in November against Kosovo.

Since his debut, Under has played four international matches for Turkey and has scored twice.

The Turkish club has already completed business with Manchester City after Basaksehir recently announced, on the club’s official website, that they had completed the signing of City’s left-back Gael Clichy on a free transfer.
