Spanish teenage star Arnau Puigmal has completed a transfer to Manchester United after being pictured holding aloft the club’s shirt at their Carrington headquarters.

It was reported by Spanish newspaper SPORT in May that the central midfielder had agreed to quit La Liga club Espanyol and move to Old Trafford.

The deal has now been confirmed after SPORT journalist Albert Roge uploaded an image on his personal Twitter account on Saturday that showed Puigmal with his new number eight United shirt at their Aon training complex.

Puigmal has been described in the past as the jewel of Espanyol’s academy after joining in 2010 from Sant Cugat, north-west of Barcelona.

It is said by SPORT that he has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Premier League giants.

He is a dynamic central midfielder who is comfortable in possession and able to dominate opponents, catching the eye of United’s recruitment staff while playing for the Spanish club’s Cadete A side.

It has been reported that the Manchester club regard midfield kingpin Puigmal as a first-team player of the future and have a detailed plan for him to progress from the youth ranks into the senior team.

After signing a contract with United, Puigmal has already had his first taste of action for the club as he played and scored in a 6-0 win for their Under-18s side over SV Ebensee in Austria on Friday.
