West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini has said he believes the Hammers’ newest signing, Pablo Zabaleta, is one of the best right-backs in the Premier League.

The 32-year-old is currently Slaven Bilic’s only recruit during the summer transfer window after the Argentinian moved from Manchester City on a free transfer.

Zabaleta initially joined the Manchester club back in 2008 from Espanyol, and he went on to make a total of 333 appearances across all competitions before moving down to London in a two-year-deal.

The Argentina international won two Premier League titles at the Etihad and new team mate Lanzini believes he will be a fantastic addition at the London Stadium.

The 24-year-old playmaker told the Evening Standard that he had been in contact with his fellow countryman, and was quoted on the newspaper’s website: “It is very good for me to have someone from Argentina join the club! We have spoken many times, he is a very good person and a very good player.

“I think he is one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, he has been here for nine years, which is amazing.

“His experience will be very important to us. He has played for a very big club in Manchester City and I think he will be very good for us.”
After finishing in eleventh place in the Premier League last season Hammers’ boss Slaven Bilic will be eager to progress with more signings this summer.
The Evening Standard claim that the London side are confident in finalising a deal for City goalkeeper Joe Hart by the end of the week.
It is said that Bilic is also still focused on recruiting Stoke City winger Marko Arnautovic following two rejected bids.
The West Ham squad are currently in Austria taking part in a pre-season training camp before their being their 2017/18 campaign.
