Inter Milan could seek to do a swap deal involving Manchester United’s Anthony Martial as they look to secure the signing of Ivan Perisic, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Italian side are keen on securing a loan deal to plug the void which would be left by the departure of playmaker Perisic, and see United’s French forward as a fitting replacement.

The Mail report that the Europa League holders are hoping to secure a deal for Perisic by Tuesday, when Inter are set to depart on their pre-season tour of China.

However the Italian giants appear to be sticking their heels in the ground over his transfer, and have set a price tag of £48million, while United are said to have tabled twi bids of £36million and £39million.

Perisic himself has been said to be desperate for the move, with the 28-year-old wide man having demonstrated his abilities with some fine form last season.

Able to play on either wing or in a central attacking role, he scored 11 goals and chipped in with a further 12 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

He is also an experienced international, having earned 56 caps and hitting the back of the net 16 times for Croatia.

His proposed replacement Martial endured much less of a profitable season, managing just eight goals and eight assists in his 42 outings, as he found himself in and out of the starting XI.

The 21-year-old is also a full international, having turned out 15 times for France since his debut back in September 2015, although he has managed just one goal so far.

He still has another two years on his contract at Old Trafford, and United were reported by the Mirror not to be looking to loan him out this summer, which could put a dent in Inter Milan’s plans.
