Yoan Gouffran has snubbed a Newcastle offer to sign for Turkish outfit Goztepe SK next week, according to Skor.

The Turkish media outlet claims the 31-year-old attacker has met with Goztepe club president Mehmet Sepil and has agreed a deal after lengthy negotiations.

It is said he turned down Newcastle’s offer of a one-year extension, which was put to him after his contract at St James’ Park expired last month.

Skor report that Gouffran will sign a three-year contract with the newly promoted Super League club next week.

The report states Goztepe manager Tamer Tuna is keen on the 31-year-old and wants to play him on the left-wing next season.

Gouffran was a mainstay of the Magpies’ forward line last term, scoring seven goals in 45 league and cup games, as well as providing five assists.

The Frenchman arrived at St James’ Park in January 2013 in a £1.7million switch from Bordeaux, and he has since made 141 appearances across all competitions for the club, which have yielded 19 goals and 13 assists.

The 31-year-old was used primarily as a left-winger by Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez last season, but he was also utilised as a centre-forward and on the right-flank at times.

Gouffran has never won a senior cap for France, but he did feature 22 on occasions for the Under-21s outfit in his youth.
